Report in assault case against 25 Chhatra Odhikar men on Feb 5

The Daily Morning Voice Online Desk: A court in Dhaka on Sunday set February 5 for submitting probe report in a case filed against 25 leaders and activists of Dhaka University chapter of Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad for allegedly assaulting and attempting to murder a leader of Chhatra League. Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur passed the order as police failed to submit the report today.
According to the case documents, Dhaka University chapter of Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad organized a rally on October 7, 2022, on the campus. They gave derogatory remarks and chanted offensive slogans against the government, prime minister and different ministers. When the leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League tried to protest, the accused swooped on them, beating them indiscriminately with rod, hockey stick, bamboo stick, the case documents said.
Chhatra League leader Nazim Uddin on October 8 filed the case with Shahbagh Police Station against 25 leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad including its president Akter Hossain. Apart from these, 140-150 unnamed persons were made accused in the case.
