Online Desk  :  Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has issued a stern warning against the recurrence of fascism in Bangladesh. Speaking to reporters after laying wreaths at the mausoleum of President Ziaur Rahman at Chandrima Udyan in Dhaka on Wednesday, Rizvi emphasized that the blood of martyrs who fought against autocracy has not yet dried up, and the BNP will not allow the repeat of such oppression. “We will not let fascism return,” Rizvi asserted. “The blood stains of the martyrs who gave their lives in the struggle for democracy are still fresh. We stand firm to ensure their sacrifice was not in vain.”

Criticizing the Awami League government, Rizvi accused its leaders of embezzling the nation’s wealth, claiming they could live off their plunder for generations. He also remarked that the Awami League has been actively protecting money launderers, ensuring they escape justice. Rizvi also condemned the government’s brutal tactics, including the killing of innocents, students, and children to maintain power. “Those who murdered to stay in power—killing people and children—should never be allowed to re-emerge in any form,” he continued. “The blood of the martyrs, including Anaf, Wasim Akram, Abu Sayeed, and Mugdhav, will never be forgotten. Their sacrifice laid the groundwork for the restoration of democracy.”

Rizvi further praised Khaleda Zia, calling her a symbol of unwavering leadership in the fight for democracy. He praised her resilience despite facing extreme torture under the current government, affirming that she continues to inspire those who fight for democratic values. The BNP leader also pointed to recent incidents in New York, accusing the interim government of being ineffective and allowing Awami League collaborators to carry out nefarious activities abroad. “If the government had acted decisively, these acts of misdeeds would not have been possible,” he said.

Rizvi did not spare the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), calling it an incompetent body that has failed to punish fascist accomplices or recover embezzled funds. “The people of this country do not want this situation,” he stated, referring to the commission’s inability to bring corrupt officials to justice. Highlighting the current government’s failure to maintain law and order, Rizvi expressed frustration over the rise in kidnappings, despite the absence of Awami League police, Chhatra League members, and the helmet force. “Why has the crime rate increased? The people will not accept this deterioration of law and order,” he said.

In his closing remarks, Rizvi called for unity among party leaders and activists, warning that conspiracies against the BNP and the people’s democracy are still underway. “We must consolidate the party at the grassroots level and ensure that the fascist collaborators of the Awami League are not given another opportunity to undermine our nation.” The meeting was attended by the newly appointed conveners and members of the BNP in Pirojpur and Barguna districts, along with party leaders and activists from various levels.
