SC stays Regent Chairman Shahed’s bail in arms case

Online Desk: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Tuesday (March 28) stayed a High Court verdict that granted bail to Regent Hospital Chairman Mohammad Shahed in an arms case. A three-member Appellate Division bench led by senior Justice Md Nuruzzaman passed the order. So far, 32 cases were filed against Shahed. Online Desk: The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court on Tuesday (March 28) stayed a High Court verdict that granted bail to Regent Hospital Chairman Mohammad Shahed in an arms case. A three-member Appellate Division bench led by senior Justice Md Nuruzzaman passed the order.

So far, 32 cases were filed against Shahed. Of those, he was sentenced to life term imprisonment in arms case in September 28, 2020.

After the verdict by a lower court, Shahed sough bail in HC in the case and secured bail in June 7, last year. Later in June 12, Chamber Judge stayed the bail following a petition by the state. Then the state filed a leave to appeal.

The Appellate Division today passed the order dismissing the leave to appeal.
