Online Desk : Some political parties are talking about voting through PR system to delay the election because their collateral will be forfeited, said Major Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, a member of the BNP Standing Committee. He said this at a discussion program titled ‘Anniversary of the People’s Uprising: Speedy Trial, Fundamental Reforms and National Parliament Election’ held at the National Press Club on Friday morning.
Major Hafiz Uddin said, “There is no reason to delay the election with strange theories. This time, the election will be an election for well-established democracy and economic freedom. The parties are spreading the message of PR system to delay the election.” Hafiz said, “The people of the country do not understand the PR system. It is important to hold a national election under the existing system. The elected government will reform the constitution and solve other issues. We want to see democracy fully developed. BNP has agreed on most of the government’s reforms.”
Regarding the upcoming national elections, he said, “There is concern about holding peaceful elections with this police force that has not undergone even minimal reforms in a year.” The senior BNP leader urged the people to be vigilant, saying that Sheikh Hasina, sitting in India, has planned various schemes to destabilize the country before the elections.
