Naim Islam, (Sundarganj) Gibandha : Officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Mahbub Alam of Gaibandhar Sundarganj Upazila police station is praised for various initiatives and successes. He has already gained the trust and love of the people through various initiatives. The people of the developed countries of the world see the police as their best friend in times of danger. In the continuation of this, he is working for the public with the belief that the police of Bangladesh ensures the overall safety of people’s lives and property.
However, there is much debate about the extent to which the police in post-independence Bangladesh have managed to gain the public’s trust. Due to the misdeeds of some police officers, the image of this force is getting tarnished at times. However, there are some police officers who stand beside the helpless people without thinking about their own benefits. Devoted himself for the country and people. Constantly risking their lives to work for the public. Such a bright example has been set by the OC of Sundarganj police station Md. Mahbub Alam.
Instead of identifying himself as an OC in front of others, he identified himself as a servant of the people. In this way, this police officer tried to be with the people in a very ordinary way. He even left his room and sat outside the police station and talked to everyone. Anytime common people meet him directly and talk about any issue and solve the problem.
It is known that Md Mahbub Alam joined the police station on 11th December 2023. Soon after joining, he did several public interest and humanitarian work. Which has already been appreciated by the local people. Currently he is a well-known person to all classes of people in the area. Earlier he was working as OC in Sadullapur police station of Gaibandha district. He has been working with brilliant success and honesty in his work life. Soon after joining, Mahbub Alam announced Sundarganj police station as gambling and broker and drug free police station. In the meantime, he has created fear in the minds of drug dealers and consumers by filing the highest number of drug cases. He even led the arrest of the criminals in the operation.
His other exceptional initiatives are – reducing the number of cases in the police station, solving minor crimes locally, community policing meetings in each ward of a municipality and 15 unions of Sundarganj upazila, beat policing meetings, anti-terror and drug meetings, strengthening security in remote areas to maintain law and order, school- In collegeStudent community meetings, gatherings to prevent violence against women and children, including against evictions and child marriagesHe has gained immense popularity by acting righteously without being influenced by any quarter.
Last year and December this year almost every meeting was conducted by him. Speaking at these public meetings, OC Mahabub Alam said, “Mujib’s promise of the police will be to the people” – keeping this slogan in front of him, he wants to get closer to the people. He is a firm believer of making the country a gold bangla by working together to realize the dream of the father of the nation. His aim is to develop Sundarganj Police Station as a well-equipped, well-disciplined and service-oriented institution
