He also affirmed that the sacrifices made during the movement will not go in vain. Speaking to reporters on Saturday at the inauguration of two commemorative murals; “July Bravery” and “July Sacrifice”, at Mawa end of the Padma Bridge, the Adviser emphasized the historical importance of July Uprising and the need to preserve its memory.

“Never doubt that these murals will be removed. Even if a new elected government comes to power, there’s no reason for this artwork not to remain,” said Jahangir Alam. Paying homage to the martyrs of both Liberation War and July Uprising, he added, “I pray for the souls of those who sacrificed their lives and express deep sympathy to their families. I also wish a speedy recovery to those injured during the movement.” The graffiti, painted on both ends of the Padma Bridge as part of Festival of Youth and July Uprising 2025 celebrations, aims to capture the historical significance of the event and pass it on to future generations.

“This is more than just an inauguration,” he said. “It’s a powerful effort to present history to the new generation. These murals will remind us of the sacrifices made by young people for freedom and democracy.” He further noted, “We must teach future generations that July Uprising wasn’t just a protest; it was a movement to establish truth and justice against injustice. It gave the nation new direction. I believe initiatives like this will inspire people with the spirit of truth, justice, freedom and democracy.”

The event was attended by Railway Ministry Secretary Fahmidul Islam, Dhaka Range DIG Rezaul Karim Mallik, Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Fatema Tuzzahnaat, Munshiganj Superintendent of Police Shamsul Alam Sarkar and Shariatpur Deputy Commissioner Tahsina Begum, among others. The murals vividly depict key moments and figures from July Uprising, including rickshaw-puller and activist Mohammad Sujon, brave female student protesters and martyrs such as Abu Sayeed and Golam Nafiz.
