Time to unite against the dark force threatening Bangladesh : Fakhrul

Online Desk : BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said all democracy supporting forces must now come together to resist what he described as a dark force threatening the country.
“I don’t know what Bangladesh I am living in at this moment. I am 77 years old. I have spent my entire life struggling for an independent, sovereign, democratic Bangladesh. The Bangladesh I see today is not the Bangladesh I ever dreamed of,” he said.
Fakhrul remarked on Monday at a joint protest titled “Bangladesh Under Mob Violence.” held at the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, organised by the Editors’ Council and Newspaper Owners’ Association of Bangladesh (Noab). He said, “This is very clear – there is not much to say – today, it is not The Daily Star, nor Prothom Alo; it is democracy itself that has come under attack.”
“My right to think freely and my right to speak have once again been attacked. This is an attack on the July Uprising. The July Uprising was a fight to establish the rights of the people of this country, and today that has been struck,” Fakhrul added.
Mirza Fakhrul said, “My message is for everyone who values democracy not as members of any political party or organization, but as citizens committed to democratic principles. Now is the time to unite. Those of us who want to move from darkness to light and see Bangladesh as a truly independent, sovereign, and democratic country cannot remain inactive. Awareness alone is not enough; we must take action. The time to stand up is now.” He further urged not to limit efforts to attending protests or forming human chains. In every sphere and with all strength, everyone who loves Bangladesh must come together to resist dark force.
