Online Desk : Prime Minister’s Information and Broadcasting Adviser Zahed Ur Rehman said he returned home without entering India in protest of being kept waiting for two hours at Delhi airport, India. Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday (June 16) at the conference room of the Department of Information (PID) in the Secretariat, the adviser made the remarks in response to a question.
He also said the incident would be viewed with caution but would not affect bilateral relations between the two countries. According to him, on Sunday, he was kept waiting for around two and a half hours at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. He had travelled to attend a two-day meeting of senior officials of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).
He was initially not allowed to enter India. The Bangladesh government had informed India’s Ministry of External Affairs at least two days in advance of his visit. Later, although entry permission was granted following high-level instructions, he declined to enter and returned to Dhaka.
