Online Desk : BNP chairperson’s adviser and candidate for Rajshahi-2 (Sadar) constituency Mizanur Rahman Minu has said that Ziaur Rahman never thought about himself and his family. He always thought about the country and its people. On the occasion of his 90th birth anniversary, I pray for eternal peace of the departed soul. At the same time, BNP will work to build the country in the coming days as per the path shown by him and as per the directives of Begum Khaleda Zia.
He said this while inaugurating a day-long programme in front of BNP Rajshahi city office on the occasion of the 90th birth anniversary of martyred President Ziaur Rahman on Monday (January 19). Mizanur Rahman Minu said, “Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, the architect of Bangladesh’s development, came, conquered and left. Because he declared independence, a territory called Bangladesh was created.
Minu said Ziaur Rahman put more emphasis on agriculture to make Bangladesh self-reliant. He abolished BAKSAL and established multi-party democracy. He devoted himself to the task of building the country in the light of the 19 points. Not only that, he has settled the Iraq-Iran war, including the formation of SAARC, OIC. And the neem trees he planted still provide shade to the people in Saudi Arabia. He said when President Ziaur Rahman was assassinated in 1981, his wife Begum Khaleda Zia took over the helm of BNP and worked to complete its unfinished works. He was a fearless soldier.
At the end of his speech, Minu inaugurated the day’s program by hoisting the national and party flags. Later, prayers and prayers were performed. On the occasion of the day, a doa mahfil was organized at the party office at 11 am. The Prime Minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls of martyred President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia.
