Online Desk : Eleven more people died from dengue during the last 24 hours till Sunday morning, marking the highest single-day deaths so far this year. A total of 1, 079 dengue infected people were admitted to different hospitals across the country during the same period. According to the daily update of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), with the latest casualties, this year’s death toll from the dengue related cases rose to 459.
Among the deceased, six were male and five were female. Among the new deaths, five were reported Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), four in Dhaka Sorth City Corporation (DSCC), and two in Khulna division (Outside city corporation). Of the new dengue patients, 272 were admitted in hospital under Dhaka division (Excluding City Corporation) while 194 were hospitalised in DNCC and 121 in DSCC. Some 4, 179 patients are receiving treatment in different hospitals across the country.
A total of 86,791 dengue cases were reported since 1 January. Some 1,230 people released from hospital after treatment during 24 hours period while 82, 612 since January 1. Last year, the country recorded 1,705 dengue-related deaths and a total of 3,21,179 dengue cases.
