Man charred to death in Chattogram market fire

Online Desk: A man was burnt to death in a fire that broke out at a market in Chattogram’s Andarkilla area early Wednesday. Deceased Md Idris, 40, was a shop owner at the market. Jahedul Kabir, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station., said the fire originated in a shop of one-storey Samabay market around 12:20am and soon engulfed the adjoining shops in the market.
Three firefighting units from Agrabad, Chandanpura, and Nandkanan went to the scene and managed to take blaze under their control around 1:30am.
Fire Service men recovered the charred body of Md Idris from a shop named Alam Engineering who was the owner of that shop. The extent of the damage is not known immediately, the OC said.
