Online Desk : Bangladesh Police’s new Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir has said that diplomatic efforts are underway to bring back two accused in the murder of former Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi. He made the remarks during a press conference on Monday (9 March) at the Police Headquarters Media Centre while addressing various contemporary issues.
The IGP said diplomatic measures are being taken to bring back the accused, Faisal and Alamgir, and that they would be brought back to the country soon. He also mentioned that the police have prepared a list of terrorists. Based on this list, a nationwide crackdown will be launched shortly to take effective action against terrorists and extortionists.
Ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, the IGP said security on highways would be strengthened. He assured that during the Eid travel period, crimes such as robbery, highway robbery, or extortion would not be allowed, and that law enforcement agencies would remain on high alert to ensure the safety of passengers.
