Online Desk : Eight people were killed and several others injured as a truck and a pickup van collided in Sylhet’s Dakshin Surma upazila on Sunday morning, May 3. The identities of the deceased, most of whom were construction workers, could not be known immediately. The fatal collision occurred in Telibazar area on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway around 6:00 am.
Md Manzurul Alam, additional deputy commissioner (mass media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP), confirmed the matter to Jago News.
Locals said some workers in a pickup van were heading from Sylhet to Sunamganj. When the vehicle reached Telibazar area, it collided with a jackfruit-laden truck coming from the opposite direction, leaving four dead on the spot and several others injured. Later, four more injured died on the way to the hospital. The bodies were sent to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, Sylhet.
