Online Desk: Another superintendent of police was sent into forced retirement yesterday. Nazmul Karim Khan, a special superintendent of Criminal Investigation Department, was sent into retirement "for public interest", said a circular issued by Aminul Islam Khan, senior secretary of Public Security Division of the Home Ministry. The circular invoked Section 45 of Bangladesh Service Rules-2018. The order came into effect immediately. Nazmul Karim Khan, a special superintendent of Criminal Investigation Department, was sent into retirement “for public interest”, said a circular issued by Aminul Islam Khan, senior secretary of Public Security Division of the Home Ministry.

The circular invoked Section 45 of Bangladesh Service Rules-2018. The order came into effect immediately. According to the section, upon the president’s approval, the government can send an employee who has completed 25 years of service into retirement in public interest, without showing any specific reason.

Earlier, the ministry sent at least seven police officials including two additional deputy inspector generals into retirement. On October 16, the government also sent Mokbul Hossain, information and broadcasting secretary, into retirement on the same grounds.
