Online Desk : The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations began on Thursday morning, with all nine general education boards using identical question papers. This year, a total of 1,270,583 regular and irregular candidates from 11 education boards have registered for the examinations. Of them, 621,969 are male and 648,614 are female. The examinations are being held at 2,697 centres across the country.
On the first day of the examinations, many candidates faced difficulties reaching their examination centres due to rain. Light showers fell in different parts of Dhaka from the morning, leaving many students drenched as they arrived at their centres.
The rain also caused traffic congestion on several roads, making it difficult for many examinees and their guardians to reach the centres on time.
According to the published schedule, students under the country’s nine general education boards are sitting the Bangla First Paper examination on the opening day. Under the Madrasah Education Board, Alim candidates are taking the Quran Majid examination, while under the Technical Education Board, HSC (BMT) candidates are sitting the Bangla II examination.
