PM orders relocation of Sayedabad, Gulistan, Mohakhali terminals to reduce traffic congestion

Online Desk : Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has ordered the relocation of Sayedabad, Gulistan and Mohakhali bus terminals in the capital to restore order on the roads of the capital and solve the long-standing traffic congestion problem.
The two administrators of Dhaka Metropolitan Municipality briefed reporters after a meeting with the Prime Minister on Monday at the third round of the meeting on traffic congestion and traffic management modernization held at the Public Administration Meeting Room of the Cabinet Division of the Bangladesh Secretariat.
The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, discussed in detail the traffic congestion situation in various regions of the country including the capital, in addition to traffic management and urban transport system reforms.
The Sayedabad, Gulistan and Mohakhali bus terminals located at important entrances and commercial areas of the capital have long been identified as one of the causes of traffic congestion. For this reason, the Prime Minister has ordered to take necessary initiatives to gradually relocate these terminals from the city to suitable locations.
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Shaikh Rabiul Alam and senior officials of relevant ministries and organizations were present at the meeting.
