The Daily Morning Voice Online Desk: Sylhet Sixers batter Towhid Hridoy scored his second fifty of the tournament to help take his side to a five-wicket win over defending champions Comilla Victorians at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Monday. The right-handed batter smashed four sixes and three fours to score 56 runs off 37 balls to help Sylhet chase Comilla’s 149-6 with 14 balls to spare. He was adjudged the player of the match for his knock. For the second time in a row, Sylhet skipper Mashrafe Mortaza opted to field first after winning the toss and his side responded by restricting Comilla to 149-6.
With three sixes and two fours, Comilla’s Jaker Ali notched up his fifty top-scoring with 57 off 43 as he saw his side through to a par total. Sylhet pacers once again did the damage with Mohammad Amir, and Thisara Perera picking up two wickets each, while Mashrafe chipped in with one. In reply, Sylhet opener Najmul Hossain Shanto once again opted for a cautious approach as he chewed up 21 balls for his 19 runs before falling to Khushdil Shah. His fellow opener
Pakistan’s Mohammad Haris didn’t have the best outing either as he fell for six runs to Abu Hider. Hridoy then took the onus upon himself to motor his team through as he stitched up a 43-run stand with Shanto, a 30-run stand with Zakir Hasan, and a decisive 42-run partnership with the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim before he got stumped off the bowling of left-arm spinner Khushdil. Mushfiq remained unbeaten on 28 off 25 balls to see his team through.
