Online Desk: The agitating teachers have called off their ongoing protest after 21 days demanding nationalization of non-government secondary schools. They made the decision following a meeting with Prime Minister’s political advisor Kabir Bin Anwar held at Awami League’s Dhanmondi office in Dhaka on Tuesday night. They made the decision following a meeting with Prime Minister’s political advisor Kabir Bin Anwar held at Awami League’s Dhanmondi office in Dhaka on Tuesday night. Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel and leaders of agitating teachers were present at the meeting.

After the meeting Bangladesh Teachers’ Association general secretary Sheikh Kawser Ahmed said the government has assured them to remove the disparity between government and non-government schools in the meeting as per their demand. He further said, “Two committees will be formed to nationalize non-government schools, and representatives from teachers will be included in the committee. It is good news for us. Having representatives from teachers will fasten the process of nationalization.”

Sheikh Kawser Ahmed said teachers will return to their classrooms from tomorrow. The agitating teachers were protesting in front of National Press Club in Dhaka demanding the nationalization of their jobs since July 11.
