The Daily Morning Voice Online Desk: The complainant has rejected the probe report submitted by Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) in the case filed against Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir and seven others over the rape and murder of a college student in Dhaka’s Gulshan in April 2021.
Nusrat Jahan Tania, victim’s elder sister, also the complainant of the case, today filed a no-confidence (naraji) petition with a Dhaka tribunal. In the petition, the complainant said the IO did not investigate the case properly. Judge Begum Mafroza Parvin of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-8 of Dhaka fixed January 15 for recording statement of the complainant in the case.
On October 12 last year, Investigation Officer Golam Mukter Ashraf Uddin, also an inspector of PBI, submit the probe report to the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka. In the probe report, the IO said he did not find any involvement of Anvir and other accused with the rape and murder of the college girl. The IO appealed to the tribunal to relieve Anvir and others from the charges of the case. Police recovered the body of the 21-year-old college student in a Gulshan flat on April 26 of 2021.
