Online Desk: Ashraful Hossain Alam, widely known as Hero Alam, today applied for a vote recount of the Bogura-4 by-polls which he lost by 834 votes. Alom, who contested the February 1 by-polls as an independent candidate, alleged that election results were changed during vote counting. Hero Alom applied for recounting votes of 45 polling stations of Bogura-4, our Bogura correspondent reports quoting Assistant Returning Officer Mahmud Hasan.
He said, “Hero Alom came to our office to submit his application for recounting votes but I was not at the office at the time. Later, he went to Bogura deputy commissioner’s office, where the officials on behalf of the returning officer (DC) received his application. Independent candidate Hero Alam lost to Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal candidate AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen by 834 votes in the by-polls. After the election, Hero Alom held a press conference and alleged that though no vote rigging took place in the Bogura-4 constituency, the results were changed during vote counting.
