Online Desk : Prashanta Kumar Halder, also known as PK Halder, an accused for embezzlement of more than 102 billion taka, and his brother Pranesh Halder have received interim bail of 14 days for taking part in their mother’s last rite. On Tuesday, Special ED Court-1 judge Prasanna Mukherjee of Kolkata City Sessions Court granted them interim bail. It is learnt that two brother PK Halder and Pranesh Halder are now in Kolkata’s Presidency Jail in a case for laundering huge amount of money from Bangladesh. Their mother Lilaboti Sarker died at Apollo Hospitals in Kolkata on May 28 last. She had been undergoing treatment at that hospital. There are cases related to corruption and money laundering against Lilaboti Sarker.
In order to join the mother’s cremation, PK Halder applied for bail through his lawyer Biswajit Manna on Monday last. Responding to the prayer, a hearing on bail took place on Tuesday. Opposing the bail, ED’s lawyer Arijit Chakravarty argued for granting four days of parole. After the hearing, the court granted them 14 days of parole. After the parole is over, they will have to surrender before court on June 18 next.
