NCP protest demanding EC reconstitution, local govt elections

Online Desk  : The National Citizen Party (NCP) of Dhaka Metropolitan North unit is holding a protest rally in front of the Election Commission (EC) building in Agargaon, Dhaka, demanding the reconstitution of the EC and the holding of local government elections. During the protest, the party declared that their movement will continue until Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin and the four other election commissioners resign. During the protest, the party declared that their movement will continue until Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin and the four other election commissioners resign. Saiful Islam, a representative of NCP from Mirpur Model Police Station unit, stated that the protest demands the resignation of the election commissioners. “This controversial commission was formed hastily. The protest will continue until the commissioners step down,” he said.

Sarwar Tusher, Joint Convener of the NCP, added, “The Election Commission must be reconstituted first. Local government elections must be held before anything else. This Election Commission is acting with bias.”
