Online Desk  :    BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday criticized the government for failing to recover illegal weapons ahead of the upcoming elections, expressing concern about the country’s law and order situation. “We are very worried. The government’s failure lies in its inability to recover illegal weapons. So far, the law and order situation has not improved significantly, although we hope it will improve soon,” he told reporters after a views-exchange meeting with party leaders and activists at his residence in Thakurgaon district town.

Speaking about the elections, Mirza Fakhrul said the BNP is taking its message directly to the people, highlighting the party’s role in democratic reforms. “All positive developments in this country are the achievements of BNP. Reforms, the transition from a one-party system to a multi-party democracy, freedom of the press, and ensuring the independence of the judiciary were all introduced by BNP,” he said. He added that the reforms currently being discussed by the Reform Commission align with BNP proposals and described the party as “undoubtedly a very constructive political force.”

On recent cricket controversies, Mirza Fakhrul said international politics had affected the sport and national honor was at stake. “One of our cricketers has been insulted, which we believe is an insult to the country,” he said, urging that minor issues be resolved through dialogue. Regarding India, he emphasized pursuing demands through mutual respect. “If we maintain good relations, hostile attitudes will also diminish,” he added.
