Online Desk : Diplomats from a total of 32 countries have attended the namaj-e-janaza of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
Among those attending the janaza are US Chargé d’Affaires Megan Boldin, British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke, Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen and European Union Ambassador Michael Miller, Russia’s Chargé d’Affaires Ekaterina Semenova, Japanese Ambassador Saida Shinichi, Canadian High Commissioner Ajit Singh, Australian High Commissioner Susan Ryle, and Swiss Ambassador Reto Siegfried Renggli.
Ambassadors and high commissioners from the Netherlands, Libya, the Philippines, Singapore, Palestine, South Korea, Myanmar, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Indonesia, Norway, Brazil, Morocco, Iran, Algeria, Brunei, Thailand, Qatar, Denmark and Malaysia are also taking part in the janaza.
In addition to diplomats, BIMSTEC Secretary General Indra Mani Pandey and World Food Programme (WFP) Acting Country Representative Simone Lawson Parchment are attending the funeral prayers.
The namaj-e-janaza will be held across the South Plaza of the National Parliament and the adjoining Manik Mia Avenue.
