Ex-ministers Amu, Qamrul shown arrested in ICT case

Online Desk : Former ministers Qamrul Islam and Amir Hossain Amu were shown arrested and sent to jail by the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Wednesday in a case filed over crimes against humanity and genocide during the July-August mass uprising.
The ICT also asked the authority concerned to produce them before it on December 18. A three-member tribunal headed by its chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza passed this order after hearing. Earlier, they were brought to the tribunal premises around 10:20AM. The ICT on December 2, directed the relevant authorities to produce Qamrul Islam and Amir Hossain Amu on Wednesday.
On November 6, Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Amir Hossain Amu, the food minister, from Dhanmondi area in the capital, while on November 18, DB detained Qamrul Islam from Uttara area.
