Police charge baton at RMG workers’ protest in Gazipur

Online Desk: Employees of some readymade garment factories in Gazipur’s Kaliakoir took to the streets in Mouchak Telirchala, Shafipur, Pallibidyut areas on Thursday, suspending vehicular movement of those areas.
They also took position on the Dhaka-Tangail highway.
As police failed to disperse them from the roads, they started charging batons on them, fired tear-gas shells and threw rubber bullets. Then the workers left the streets. From 12:30pm, the movement of vehicles on those roads became normal.
It was learnt that the protesters staged protest for the fourth consecutive day today. Demanding minimum salary Tk 23,000, the workers have started their protest since October 23.
