Online Desk: Two people died and four others were injured as a covered van collided with a microbus on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at Dori Bausia in Gajaria upazila of Munshiganj this morning. The deceased were identified as Dulal Mia, 60, of Uttar Balrampur village in Cumilla’s Titas and Md Hossain, 10, son of Akhter Hossain of the same village.

Bhaberchar Highway Police Outpost Sub-inspector Riyad said the accident happened around 3:30am when the microbus carrying six persons was heading towards Titas upazila from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka. When the microbus reached in Gajaria’s Bausia on the highway, the covered van hit the vehicle from behind, a correspondent from Munshiganj reports.

The microbus overturned leaving Dulal and Hossain dead on the spot. At that time, a Dhaka-bound bus of Shanti Paribahan collided with a roadside tree while trying to avoid the microbus, SI Riyad said. According to Gazaria Upazila Health Complex sources, all the injured were given first aid and sent to Dhaka. Bodies of the deceased were kept in police custody. The covered van was seized but the driver and helper fled the scene.
